"Bessie" watercolor & gouache on paper, signed lower right and dated: Ward Binks, '36. Reuben Ward Binks, England, 1880-1950. One of England's most prominent animal painters, William Secord noted: the artist's client list was a 'Who's Who' of the purebred dog world". Bessie belonged to Bettine Field, daughter of Marshall Field and bequeathed to her dear friend Wayne Goodall. Binks painted the hunting dogs of many members of the Royal Family; his portraits hang throughout Sandringham. Frame: 19 1/2" x 23 1/8". Sight: 11 1/2" x 15 1/4". $2,250
