WOF-1050: Louis XV Country French Buffet a Deux Corps:
A significant Louis XV period Buffet a Deux Corps, c. 1735-60, of gorgeous oak timber of the finest color. The original steel hinges and escutcheons are equally fine. The depth of carving in whorls, rondels, c and s scrolls - speaks to the finest craftsmanship. Note that the exceptional stock of the uprights is fully original, dynamically carved on the front feet and only slightly tipped on the rear feet. Deep aprons are found on all sides. Typical minor repairs. 92" high, 24 1/2" deep, 52 1/4" at widest point of body & 57" wide at molding. $16,500

Wof-2002: Walnut Louis XV-XVI Buffet:
A superb quality, amazingly original 18th century Louis XV-XVI transitional Buffet of gloriously colored walnut with fine, mostly original steel hardware. This elegantly proportioned example, from the area between Lyon & Vienne, is raised on escargot carved feet. Typical of this region the door panels are cherry & the side panels are ash. Full, robust aprons on the front & sides. Oval carved medallion between the drawers is one of many aspects of the refinement found throughout this exceptional example. Minor tipping & repair commensurate with 200 years of use.

Wof-2112: Elm & Ash Buffet a Deux Corps:
A richly carved elm & ash Buffet a Deux Corps form Caux in Normandy (Cauchois), c.1830. The pronounced crown molding starts and stops with fluting, creating a dentil molding effect and the corners are carved in a drapery motif. The whole is lushly and deeply carved with flowers and foliage on the apron, doors and crest rail and used to particularly good effect along the central uprights - carrying the eye upwards. The feet have been tipped. The upper doors enclose shaped shelves, one with 2 attached drawers.

Wof-2140: Buffet from Provence:
A French country Buffet from Provence of warm applewood, c.1800. Good quality classical motif carving - concentric circles centering the drawers & concealed candle drawer over bellflowers over an urn & flowers. Well developed apron on all 3 sides. Deeply panelled doors finished in double escargot swirls mirroring the apron. Simple, but gracious turned feet. Robust, original steel hardware (the knobs added for ease of use). The original marble top of superb color & figure has been professionally cleaned & restored (several old breaks).
