Wof-2132: George III Oak Dresser with Rack:
An unusually large scale West Midlands George III, c.1760, oak dresser with original rack, the whole crossbanded in mahogany. Wonderful color. Note the exceptional details such as inlay on the frieze scrolls & how the base & crown friezes both reflect each other & create a counterpoint to each other. The scrolls of the crown frieze are based on pediment designs, particularly the broken arch pediment often found on tall case clocks. One restored drop, toe repairs & restored hardware - all quite minor for 250 years of constant use.
78 1/2" h., 88" w., 19" d.
$22,000
