Federal Period circa 1790-1810 Hepplewhite Sideboard from Virginia. American native Walnut with Southern Yellow Pine & Poplar secondary woods. Deep drawers flank central long drawer over recessed cabinet doors. The drawers, doors & top are banded with a fine line of holly inlay. Raised on 6 graceful, square, tapered legs; with mahogany inlay. The apron is also banded with mahogany. The oval brass pulls are old but not original. It has numerous small patches to the top, the drawers & especially at the tips of the feet which have been carefully built out to their original size. Provenance: Gooseneck Antiques to Marion Sams, to Tranquil Corners Antiques, to present estate collection. Dr. Elizabeth Daniel of Gooseneck Antiques noted that it was found on a Lynchburg, VA area farm in the 1920s by an “old-time collector” and purchased by them from his widow. 73″ x 20.5″ x 37.5″ h.
