Playmakers’ Theatre – North Carolina State University at Chapel Hill etching by Louis Orr, 1939-1952. Pencil inscribed & signed. Designed by Alexander Jackson Davis, it was built in 1851. This is on of the most important of his university depictions from the 1939-52 series of NC landmarks. Orr, 1879-1961, was the 1st American artist acquired for the permanent collection of the Louvre. Plate impression: 8″ x 10″. Light toning; not examined out of the frame.
