Circa 1770 pair of French fauteuils en cabriolet (open arm chairs). Transitional Rococo to Neo-classical period and design (Louis XV-XVI). Carved walnut & beech, original gilding removed at least 50 years ago. Raised on turned, tapered, fluted legs. Rosettes anchor each apron corner & leg. Note the fully developed & elegantly raked rear legs. Whorl & finger carving distinguish the backs & arms. Evidence of old worm. One rear leg professionally repaired. Expected minor losses & wear given age & use.
