Mid-18th century chest on chest, George III, English. Mahogany with oak secondary. The top section comprised of 3 short drawers over 3 long drawers over 3 long drawers for the bottom section. Raised on shaped bracket feet. Superb quality from the fine timbers to the hardware and fine details such as the dentil crown molding. Cockbeading, strong mid-moldings, the canted corners with fluting accented by petite carved rosettes and ending in a lamb’s tongue carving add visual lift and interest to the piece. Note the early construction of the drawer bottoms and the attached crown. Apparently original hardware.
