An example of these superb plates is in Howard, Vol. II, color plate G3, p. 187 with a fascinating discussion of the likely history. A complicated armorial history is included and the crest/motto noted: “A Cocksable beaked and armed fules, and motto ‘Virtute et labore.'” Minor rim frits. 8.75″ x 1.63″.
