Framed original 1851 Iroquois Nation Map by Lewis Henry Morgan. Titled: “Map of Ho-de-no-sau-nee-ga, or the Territories of the People of the Long House in 1720”. It is one of the most important documents of Iroquois geography. Morgan, called the “father of American anthropology”, carefully documented the ancestral homelands of the Six Nations including villages, trails & the names of the Nations (now New York State): Mohawk, Oneida, Cayuga, Seneca & Tuscarora. Excellent overall condition given age with expected folds & wrinkles. Sight: 18.5″ x 21.5″. Framed: 27 5/8″ h., 30″ w., 2″ d.
